Step by Step Guide to Wear a Saree
First of all make sure your petticoat is tight also you should have your shoes on before you start the draping so that you should get the length right.
Now start by taking one end of your saree and keep tucking it into your waistband, make sure the saree should barely touch the ground so that your shoes don’t show but it shouldn’t be too long or else you may drap. Go on a full round and stop it draping from where you started tucking in. Now take the other end of the saree and begin to pleat it, this is what will make your pallu. Use your fingers to span the each size of pleat taking fabric in and out alternately. Bring the pleats behind you and towards the right hip making sure they all are equal before you set it on your left shoulder.
Tips to Wear Saree Perfectly
1. Take a safety-pin for securing the pleats together at any two points on the palloo, a little far apart however you need to remove it at the end. Now adjust the length a little below the knee level. Once you have done this, use another safety-pin to hold the pallu on to your blouse at your shoulder.
Now pull the fabric from your top right and bring it to the front at your knee bend. There are two ways to keep it in place either simply tuck it in to keep it in place or you can pull it and secure it with a safety-pin.
2. This is the second trick, wearing it diagonally will make you look so much slimmer. Now let’s go for the pleats, you need to hold the rest of the fabric in front of you to make the pleats just the way you did earlier use your finger to pleat it making sure all the pleats are of same width and length.
3. Now third and the final trick, to prevent your perfect pleats from ditching you, use a safety-pin to hold them altogether and tuck them into the waistband making sure they are of floor length. Now finish of by removing the safety-pin from your pallu.
