Braids went out of fashion a couple of years ago when some began to call it too ‘attention-seeking’. Now, however, the braids are making a comeback and they are beginning to represent a suave, cultural style. Here are some of the hottest braids;
1. The fishtail; one of the more basic styles and yet very effective. The style basically says ‘I am stylish but I don’t dare avoid risks either’.
2. The crown; it is more of a Greek-classic hairstyle and will most certainly grab attention at the parties. It goes well with round faces but anybody else can wear it too.
3. Side-braid; this style was often seen in the 90s in south Asian countries like Pakistan, India and Bangladesh. Wear it fashionably and it will bring spunk to your personality while at the same time giving you a girl-next-door feel.
4. Slight braids; this is not so much a braid hairstyle as it is a tousled look. The hairstyle basically is for those who do not want to try too hard (or at least try to appear so). Slight braids make you look like you have been playing with your hair all day, certainly something that would increase attractiveness.
5. The headband; a cousin of the crown braid, this is the braid for you if you intend to hide your forehead. While the crown braid comes slightly above your forehead, the headband is on top of your skull which leaves hair for you to cover the forehead.
6. Pony Braid; this is the style for girls with long hair and short risk measure. If you are looking to braid them, yet play it safe, this is the style for you.
7. Bun-Braid; one of the riskiest to wear and toughest to arrange, the bun braid can either make or break your style. It is quite complicated so you may need an assistant, couple of mirrors and plenty of time.
8. Laid-back crown; another style from the crown family, the laid back crown lies on the back of your skull, giving your style an air of regality.
9. Corn-row braid; another one of the riskier styles, it involves making very narrow, tiny braids out of your hair. Remember to have only one or two such braids because a greater number of braids will make you look like a tree.
10. Mixed braid; this is a combination of crown and the pony. The braid begins at the top of the head and forms a crown as it travels downward where it becomes a pony braid near the neck.
Braids are an excellent style statement and become even more useful as they can be used to get rid of some extra weight on your hair and keep your skull cool during the hot months.
